JALARTE ARTE ASOCIACIÓN IRREGULAR
Jalarte A.I. (Arte Asociación Irregular)
(Guadalajara, 1997–1998) was a collective founded by students of architecture from the ITESO (Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara), whose art happenings and performances were enacted with tongue firmly in-cheek. Their shared interest in architecture informed much of the practice, using abandoned buildings and creating bizarre alternative spaces in which to present their work and confuse unwitting audiences through opaque gestures and happenings that upset familiar ways of experiencing art. Jalarte’s members were Rodrigo Aldana, Francisco Balzaretti, Omar Guerra, Alejandro Ramírez Lovering, Lourdes Méndez, Daniel Navarro, and Fernando Palomar.
(Guadalajara, 1997–1998) fue un colectivo fundado por estudiantes de arquitectura del ITESO (Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara), cuyos happenings artísticos y performances fueron presentados con ironía y agudeza contundentes. El interés compartido en la arquitectura dio forma a gran parte de su práctica—utilizaron edificios abandonados y crearon bizarros espacios alternativos para presentar su trabajo y confundir a sus audiencias involuntarias por medio de gestos velados y happenings que alteraron las formas familiares de experimentar el arte. Los miembros de Jalarte A.I. fueron Rodrigo Aldana, Francisco Balzaretti, Omar Guerra, Alejandro Ramírez Lovering, Lourdes Méndez, Daniel Navarro y Fernando Palomar.
